About El Bandido Yankee Reposado Tequila
Even though this small distillery is founded by two American NHL stars, James Robert Morris and Chis Chelios, its vision is to carry on centuries-old Mexican traditions of handcrafting tequilas. Their Reposado proves that American vision and Mexican craftsmanship are a spectacular combination.
The El Bandido Yankee Reposado Tequila is made from 100% blue weber agave. The plants are grown in red volcanic clay of the Los Altos region in Jalisco, Mexico, at an elevation of 6.000 feet and over. At that elevation, plants produce much richer piña, which guarantees the tequila a softer, finer profile. After they reach the age of eight, they are carefully selected and hand-cut.
The process of distillation, overseen by a local female master distiller Karina Rojo, is carried on in small batches in copper pots. After the second distillation, the Tequila is stored in bourbon barrels of American and European oak, stripped, and re-charred to enhance flavors. After being aged perfectly, this Reposado is then hand-bottled and sent out into the world. All natural and additive-free, it is a true testament to the Mexican fine art of tequila making.
